The Synthetic Insights research series

R&D Reports

Long-form research from Synthetic Insights. Every issue ships a free Public Edition alongside an NDA-bound Internal Edition for partners and patent counsel.

Research from the Production Floor

Every issue is grounded in production systems we operate. Methodology and architecture, not white-paper theory.

Brian R. Miller (Founder & CEO, Synthetic Insights) anchors the series. Topics span agentic AI architecture, ethics-as-infrastructure, autonomous coordination, cognitive privacy, override architectures, and the patterns that make trustworthy AI possible.

Initial cadence is quarterly, building toward monthly. Each issue is the primary artifact for a coordinated multi-channel publication campaign — long-form articles, LinkedIn series, YouTube episodes, and standalone posts — all anchored to the canonical Public Edition PDF.

Ethics as Infrastructure

A Comprehensive Framework for Building AI Systems Grounded in Ethical Architecture

Defines the three-layer Ethics-as-Infrastructure model that grounds every agent, service, and interaction in the SI ecosystem: foundational presuppositions (Layer 1), corporate policy (Layer 2), and agent execution (Layer 3). Includes the philosophical foundations (Schaeffer / Lewis / Keller), eight foundational axioms, comparison with peer methods (Constitutional AI, RLHF, EU AI Act), the implementation architecture at concept level, gap analysis, research agenda, and Brian R. Miller's first-person engagement with the axioms plus ten documented AI-architecture failures.

Upcoming

The second R&D Report is in drafting. Subscribe to Synthetic Insights updates to be notified when it lands.

Two Editions, One Argument

The boundary between editions is governed by patent counsel review — not editorial convenience.

What's in the Public Edition

The complete philosophical argument, frameworks, axioms, methodological comparisons, case studies, and research agenda. The work that matters for the academic and practitioner audience is preserved unchanged.

What's Reserved

Specific implementation details that constitute patent claim limitations — numerical thresholds, service names, file paths, exact state-machine enumerations — and operational specifics that would expose security or competitive surface area.

Why It Matters

Public research advances the field. Patent-relevant specifics protect the capital required to do the production engineering. Both audiences are served by the same source material with a disciplined sanitization boundary between them.
